The Organizing Secretariat and the South African Association of Botanists invites you to attend the XXth AETFAT meeting in Stellenbosch close to the southern tip of the African continent. Stellenbosch is an old university town nestling in the mountains and vineyards near Cape Town and will provide an excellent venue for participants to present their research, share their experiences and make contacts in the tradition of AETFAT, which met for the first time in 1950. Stellenbosch lies in the middle of the Cape Floral Region, the sixth most important botanical biodiversity hotspot of the world. Participants will have an opportunity to see some of this biodiversity during the planned mid-conference tours to areas such as Table Mountain, Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens and Robben Island. This promises to be an excellent conference with leading international speakers and a broad spectrum of participants from around the world who will present and discuss their latest botanical research on Sub-Saharan African and Malagasy floras. The theme of the Congress is “Biodiversity of African plants – challenges in a changing World.”
We invite you to submit an abstract online and look forward to welcoming you to the congress.
